The Flåm Railway - Norway in a Nutshell

The world famous Flåm Railway, recognised as the steepest ordinary railway line in Europe, is a great attraction and part of the full day excursion called “Norway in a Nutshell”. This trip takes you to the high mountains as well as along deep fjords and beautiful valleys. Starting from Hotel Ullensvang, the first stop is Voss, where you change from coach to train. The Bergen Railway takes you into the northern parts of the Hardangervidda Mountain Plateau, to the station of Myrdal. After a quick change of trains, the great adventure of the Flåm Railway starts. On your way down to the lovely village of Flåm, ask yourself how anyone could even think of building a railway in this wild landscape. After a break in Flåm, a boat will take you out sailing along the Aurland- and Nærøy fjords. These fjords are so narrow that it is like someone has cut with a knife through the high mountains. At Gudvangen, at the bottom of the Nærøyfjord, your coach is waiting to take you back to Ullensvang after a day filled with unforgettable impressions.
