Experience wellkept cultural landscapes, which have been maintained through active sheep and fruit farming, and very rough mountain areas, with dramatic peaks and clis. The park has a beautiful and varied natural scenery. In Fyksesund you will find several well marked foot paths and some more strenuous mountain walks.
You can visit the Hardanger Akvasenter (Steinstø quay), which is a facility demonstrating salmon farming, or join a boat trip with M/S Peer Gynt to picturesque Botnen, which is recognized as the cradle of the Hardanger fiddle. It is possible to book guided tours, kayak paddling, and mountain climbing activities with ”Fyksesund Braut”.
By the roadside you will find ”Steinstø Frukt og Kakebu” (Steinstø Café & Shop), open every day from the 1st of June until the middle of October. Seated inside or out in the open, you can enjoy a magnificent, breathtaking view over the Hardangerfjord with the glacier ”Folgefonna” in the horizon. The cafeteria offers several home made dishes. Don’t miss their world famous apple cake. In the shop you can buy fruits and berries from the farm, homemade jam and pastries, and other products from local farmers. There are also guided tours of the fruit farm. Alternatively lunch can be served in the restaurant ”Kjedlaren” which can seat 60 guests. The menu is based on traditional Norwegian food from local ingredients.
